The first DBC - What a great day!
On Saturday, March 23, 2013, over 220 people became a part of the first ever Dirty Bird Nation. For most, it was probably their first encounter with an OCR (obstacle course race). Our community responded, it was a hit and has continued to grow.
There are many stories, bumps, bruises, scrapes, and sore muscles that can attest to the grit and fortitude of a Dirty Bird. I hope that drive and spirit will continue to keep you motivated to return every year.
We are looking forward to July 26, 2016 and seeing the Dirty Bird Nation come alive once again.

Dirty Bird Facts
Why the DBC?
The Dirty Bird Challenge was created for the purpose of challenging people and/or teams of people with more than just a 5K. The Dirty Bird is definitely not your ordinary 5K; it is an obstacle course race. It is designed to engage every aspect of a person’s athleticism. Whether it is endurance, balance, speed, strength, or just plain grit, this race will measure it. It will show no favoritism; the playing field is even for everyone who participates. This race promises to take you out of your comfort zone, find your weakness and challenge you. Hence, our motto, “Are You Up For A Challenge? The funds raised in this race will go towards providing opportunities to help students overcome the many challenges of learning and to help prepare them for their future. As educators, we understand the importance of preparing for life's many challenges. Thank you in advance for your support.
The Course
The course distance is around 3-4 miles and includes +/-10 obstacles plus the terrain itself. Besides running, you may have to crawl, climb, roll, push, or lift, so you better be ready for a challenge. Our imagination is the limit. At some obstacles, there will be a penalty of 20 burpees for not completing an obstacle. Told you it wasn't a 5K. Lastly, definitely come prepared to get “Dirty” if you are up for the Challenge.
The Participants
Everyone will start at the same time.
Age Groups
The top three male and female competitors in each age group will receive an award. There will also be an overall award for the top male and female participants. The age groups are as follows:
Under 20
20-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60 and over
Packet Pickup
There will only be onsite pick up available.
Awards
Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in the Male and Female categories. We will not keep time, just ranking. Life is about being a strong person and finishing, not about how fast you can get through it.
Refunds
There will be no refunds allowed for any reason. All registrations are final. The only reason we would not run is lightning. All other seasonal elements are a welcome addition. After all, it is an obstacle race.
